SBI Clerk 2021 Exam Pattern - Section-wise Pattern for Prelims and Mains examination

 
The official notification for the SBI Clerk 2021 is out. SBI will be conducting the SBI Clerk 2021 Exam in two phases, i.e. Preliminary examination, Mains examination, after which SBI will publish the final merit list of the successful candidates.
  • To successfully crack the SBI Clerk 2021 Examination, all the aspirants need to be well versed with the exam pattern of the concerned examination.
  • Knowing about the exam pattern can give a significant boost to anyone’s preparation. The Prelim and Mains examination will be conducted online.
  • Candidates need to successfully crack the prelims exam, to appear for the main exam.
  • There will be a special language proficiency test that will be conducted for students who have not studied the local language in their 10th or 12th standard.
  • After conducting all the phases SBI will then publish the final merit list of the successful candidates.

SBI Clerk 2021 Examination Stages
Aspirants need to clear 2 stages of the selection process to get recruited for the concerned post. There is also an extra stage, which is a language proficiency test. Details regarding this stages are mentioned below. All the examinational stages are given below.

*(There will be a special language proficiency test that will be conducted for students who have not studied the local language in their 10th or 12th standard.)

SBI Clerk 2021 Exam Pattern - Preliminary Examination (Stage I)
The Preliminary Examination of SBI Clerk 2021 examination will consist of three sections and they are as follows:

  • The Total number of questions asked in the SBI Clerk Prelims examination is 100.
  • The total marks for the Prelims examination is 100 marks.
  • Each section will have separate timing.
  • Candidates will get 1 mark for each correct answer.
  • Marks deducted for every wrong answer is ¼.
  • No marks will be deducted for unattempted questions. 
  • The mode of the examination is Online mode.
  • The duration of the examination is 60 minutes.
  • No individual or aggregate cut off marks are there. 
  • Marks obtained in this stage are qualifying in nature and will not be counted for making the final merit list. 
  • SBI will release a category wise merit list based on marks obtained in the Preliminary examination. Based on the merit list successful candidates can appear for the main examination. As per the notification usually, 10 times the total number of vacancies will be qualified for the main examination.
SBI Clerk 2021 Exam Pattern - Mains (Stage II)
The candidates have to qualify for the Preliminary examination for appearing for stage 2, which is the mains examination. SBI Clerk Mains exam will consist of the following sections.

  • The total number of questions asked in the SBI Clerk Mains exam is 190.
  • The total marks for the Mains examination are 200 marks. 
  • Each section will have separate timing.
  • Marks deducted for every wrong answer is ¼.
  • The mode of the examination is Online mode.
  • The duration of the examination is 160 minutes.
  • Candidates need to secure a minimum qualifying percentage on aggregate marks to qualify for this stage. Candidates belonging to the reserved category such as SC/ST/OBC/PWD/XS will get a 5% relaxation on the same. 
  • Based on the marks obtained, SBI will publish the list of successful candidates who will be provided with the appointment letter and they will be placed according to their rank and preferences. 
  • Candidates are required to score minimum percentage marks on aggregate (For SC/ST/OBC/PWD/XS candidates, 5% relaxation available there on). Minimum qualifying marks on aggregate will be decided by the bank.
  • No minimum qualifying marks for individual subjects are prescribed.
  • Merit list will be drawn State wise, category wise. Candidates qualified in the test (main examination) will be placed according to their aggregate marks in descending order in respective States and Categories.
  • NOTE: Other detailed information regarding the examination will be given in the 'Acquaint Yourself' booklet, which should be downloaded from Bank’s website along with the call letter for the test.
Final Selection for SBI Clerk Exam 
After clearing all the steps mentioned above, SBI will declare the final cutoff based on the vacancy of that particular year. The marks obtained in the Prelims exam will not be considered for preparing the final selection list, only marks obtained in the mains examination will be considered. The final merit list will be published on the official website and all the successful candidates will be provided with the Appointment Letter. 

Notes:
  • The final selection will depend on passing the verification process of eligibility for the post and the information furnished while filling up the online application form. 
  • Need to qualify for the Local Language Proficiency Test, if applicable. 
  • SBI will also publish a state and category wise waiting list for up to 50% of vacancies. The waiting list will be used in case of non-joining and resignation out of candidates from the current batch. 
  • Candidates on the waiting list need to score minimum qualifying marks, decided by the exam conducting body. 
  • The waiting list will be valid for a period of one year from the date of declaration of the final result.
SBI Clerk Syllabus 2021 
To qualify for the SBI Clerk examination candidates should have an idea about the SBI Clerk Syllabus to strategize their study plan better. To crack the examination a thorough knowledge of the syllabus is a must. 
  • There are three sections in the prelims examination namely English Language, Reasoning Ability, and Numerical Ability. 
  • Whereas the mains examination consists of four sections namely General Awareness, English Language, Reasoning & Computer Aptitude, and Quantitative Aptitude. 
  • The syllabus of the prelims and mains exam are mentioned separately.
