Sarojini Naidu (13 February 1879 – 2 March 1949) was born in Hyderabad, India. His father Aghornath Chattopadhyay was a renowned scholar and mother was a poet and used to write in Bengali. Due to his sharp intellect since childhood, he passed the 12th examination at the age of 12 with good marks and at the age of 13, composed a poem called Lady of the Lake. Sarojini Naidu was sent to England from a donation provided by the Nizam of Hyderabad to prove the efficacy of chloroform in surgery.
After the attainment of independence, the leaders who took the country to that goal now had another task in front of them. He had fought till today. But now the responsibility of nation building fell on his shoulders. Some leaders were given jobs in the government machinery and administration. Sarojini Naidu was also one of them. He was appointed as the Governor of Uttar Pradesh. It was the largest province of the country in terms of expansion and population. Accepting that post, she said, 'I feel like a 'bird of the imprisoned forest'. But she could not avoid the wishes of Prime Minister Jawaharlal Nehru for whom she had deep love and affection.
