CV Raman (Tamil: சந்திரசேகர வெங்கட ராமன்) (7 November 1888 – 21 November 1970) was an Indian physicist. He was awarded the prestigious Nobel Prize in Physics in 1930 for his outstanding work on the scattering of light. His invention is known as the Raman Effect after his own name.[1] In 1954, he was honored with the title of Bharat Ratna by the Government of India and in 1957 was awarded the Lenin Peace Prize.
